The Ganga reading is a sacred consultation ceremony within Palo Mayombe in which the tata or yaya uses the nganga—a consecrated object containing forces of nature and protective spirits—to reveal messages, warnings, and spiritual paths. Through the signs and movements of the object, the ganga can alert the person to imbalances, curses, dark spiritual influences, or obsessive forces that may be affecting them. When this occurs, the tata or yaya, according to their ethics and training, can act to cleanse, balance, or remove these influences, restoring the consultant's spiritual harmony.
